About the laser tattoo removal system

Our go-to-choice of laser system is the versatile and cutting-edge platform Xlase Plus by Biotech Italia. An intelligent laser system for skin treatments, Xlase Plus is a unique innovation within the world of laser technologies, and fully meets the needs of the medical and aesthetic professionals. It is perfect for laser tattoo removal which is considered by dermatologists as the safest and most clinically effective procedure for the removal of tattoos.

How does it work?

Producing fantastic results, whether it be on unwanted amateur or professional tattoos, the Xlase Plus works by allowing the light produced by the laser to pass through the skin and shatter the tattoo ink into tiny particles, all without burning or damaging the upper-layer of skin. The body will then dispose of these shattered tattoo particles via the body’s natural immune system.

You’re in good hands with the Xlase Plus – Biotech Italia is a technology leader in the medical and aesthetic industry, just one of the reasons why we’ve partnered with them to bring you the best standard in laser tattoo removal. With this system combined with our expertise and understanding vision of what you want to achieve, we’re confident your laser tattoo removal journey will have the most effective and safest results possible.

Q: What happens in the consultation?

We’ll invite you to a free consultation to discuss your expectations and vision of the tattoo removal. We’ll assess your tattoo and ask you questions including how long you’ve had it and what you’d like to achieve from your laser sessions – some of our clients want a complete removal whilst others want to fade their tattoo so it can be easily covered up by a new one.

Once we’ve discussed your tattoo and given you a price quote for your laser sessions, you will be offered a free patch test to see how your tattoo and skin reacts to the laser.

Q: Will I get a patch test first?

Yes and it’s free! This is a very quick laser treatment only lasting a few seconds on your tattoo to test your body’s reaction to the laser. This is to satisfy us that it is safe to offer you full laser sessions.

You’ll need to wait at least five days before you return to begin your treatments.

Q: How many laser sessions will I need?

That will depend on a few things. It’s impossible to predict exactly how many treatments it will take to remove your tattoo, but several factors do come into play. Such as how easily you heal; how deep the ink is; how large the tattoo is; if it’s professional or amateur; and the types of ink that were used. It’s important to remember we are all different so every client can expect different results.

Considering the above, a professional tattoo for example can take an average of 10 sessions to remove although some Indian ink and amateur tattoos can be removed within 6 treatments and sometimes it can only take 1 or 2 …but this is very rare. You may notice the tattoo fades more and more with every treatment you have, but this isn’t always the case because some tattoos can be very stubborn to remove.

Q: Will it hurt?

The laser tattoo removal is easily tolerated by most people, it feels similar to a small elastic band being snapped on the skin.

Q: How long will each session take?

Treatments can take between 10 seconds to 30 minutes depending on the size of the tattoo.

Q: Are there any side effects

It’s not uncommon for bleeding or blistering to occur, there are varying reasons as to why this happens, but it’s short lived and in our experience, never cause for concern.

Q: How does the skin look after my treatment?

An instant whitening of the skin is usually seen after treatment, but this generally fades quickly. The area is likely to feel tender for a few hours and can be red and swollen for up to 48 hours.

Q: Will the laser scar my skin?

No. If bleeding or blistering does occur it is very important not to pick any scabs that may result when the skin is healing – this could cause scarring, and should be avoided as scar tissue can make further treatments more difficult.

Q: Why does the ink stay in the skin when you have a tattoo?

When you have a tattoo the particles of ink are too large for the body to destroy, so instead, it encapsulates the particles of ink with a network of collagen fibres as the skin heals, and there the tattoo remains.

Q: How does the laser actually remove the tattoo?

The Laser we use generates a high-powered beam of laser light in an extremely short pulse. The very short pulse of high powered laser light is absorbed by the tattoo ink particles, this shatters them into smaller pieces which in turn kicks in your natural immune defence system to absorb and disperse the ink. As the body’s immune system gets rid of these shattered ink fragments you will notice a gradual fading of the tattoo over a series of sessions.

Q: Why does it take longer to treat colours over black tattoos?

The lasers infrared wavelength is easily absorbed into black and dark blue inks, whereas the lasers green light is absorbed by red ink. The laser can treat other colours although white, yellow and bright colours are difficult (and may require more laser sessions). This is not usually a problem, as lighter colours cover very easily.

Q: Is there any aftercare required after each session?

We’ll advise you on the consultation day so you are fully prepped to ensure you look after the area.
